Tadpoles Childcare opened in September 2007 with only 2 children and 3 staff members in attendance. Since then we have grown to a team of over 10 staff members completely committed to the many children and families who attend our Crèche, Montessori and Afterschool club.
At Tadpoles we believe that having qualified, experienced, dedicated and caring staff is the most important element in any childcare setting. Staff are selected for their qualifications, experience in working with children and their personal attributes. We pride ourself in all our staff being qualified to a minimum of Fetac level 5 with many holding a Fetac level 6 qualification in childcare or equivalent. Staff have up to date paediatric first aid certificates and attend training in health and safety.
Staff complete bi monthly developmental reports for all children in their care and once a year we hold a parent evening for all our toddler and Montessori parents so parents and staff can have time to sit down and discuss how each individual child is progressing in all the various aspects of their development.
We promote each child’s independence through a wealth of learning opportunities, both structured and flexible. Our curriculums for each age group are based on the principles of the Siolta and Aistear frameworks. Play and Montessori methods are dominant in the curriculums while taking into account other valuable early learning practice methods. The curriculums are devised by the staff working in each room under the guidance of the manager and take into account the individual children’s needs and interests. Weekly curriculum plans are displayed by the staff on boards outside each room so that parents have an understanding of what their children are participating in and learning in Tadpoles on a daily basis.
Entry and exit from our building is controlled by CCTV.We also have CCTV in all our care rooms as an added safety measure. We also have controlled internal entry and exit points and intercom systems in the building so that no person can enter or exit the building without the knowledge of the staff members. Children are signed in and out and a detailed application form ensures there are procedures in place if anyone other than the child’s parents are due to collect them.
Parents must complete a detailed application procedure so that staff are aware of each child’s medical history and any additional needs they may have. Each child has a daily record sheet which goes home with them every evening. The record sheet details each child’s sleep, meals, nappy changes/ toileting, medical administration and activities daily. Any accidents/ incidents are recorded in our accident/ incident book and a copy is sent home each evening.
